Siesta Key Siesta Key is an 8 mile barrier island, and its beaches are its premier claim to fame drawing over 1 million tourists annually. At 99% quartz, the sand at Siesta Beach has long been known as the “whitest and finest sand in the world.” It has consistently ranked among the top ten beaches of Florida, the U.S., and even the world. Dr. Beach (Dr. Stephen Leatherman) has awarded Siesta Beach with the title of second best beach in the United States twice in twenty years. The shallow waters near the shore and permanent lifeguard protection make Siesta Beach ideal for families with young children. For more information about accommodations, attractions, boating, hotels or dining, peruse Siesta-Key.net.
